Our hands-on expertise covers most commercial RDBMSs. In the real world companies sometimes keep a 10 year lifecycle of database versions/releases. The process of migration to a newer version/release is daunting to say the least. It requires study, planning, preparation, skills and experience. Problems can arise before/during and after a migration and we can anticipate and overcome such issues.

Part of the migration procedures we have successfuly performed in decades of systems are the following steps:

  • Keeping a precise record of applications/systems that are to be affected
  • Selection of the proper newer version release. The most recent is not always the case
  • Creation of a very well documented procedure with all the necessary steps/commands
  • Creation of plan-b migrantion scenario
  • Creation of fall-back scenarios in case of unforseeable problems
